Orach Technic Pro 1L - Pass-1 is a hybrid OpenType (.otf) font developed for true single-pass engraving.
Pass-1 was developed directly from our standard Orach Technic Pro – Thin (ProGrav) font.
A single centerline was generated through the middle of its extremely narrow double-line geometry.
As a result, both fonts are fully compatible. Any text created with Orach Technic Pro – Thin can be
replaced with Orach Technic Pro 1L without changing its appearance.
The only difference is the engraving process: instead of two extremely close engraving passes, the machine performs a single engraving pass.
In practice, Orach Technic Pro 1L (Pass-1) is primarily intended for high-volume engraving on specialized engraving plastics,
where a single pass is usually sufficient. For metal engraving, however, two engraving passes generally produce better results.
Like all hybrid OpenType fonts, Orach Technic Pro 1L has its own specific characteristics and limitations that should be understood before use.
True single-line engraving fonts can be implemented in the OpenType format only as special hybrid solutions.
As a result, they do not fully conform to the original purpose of the OpenType standard and may exhibit certain limitations or compatibility issues in
some graphic, CAD/CAM and CNC applications. For many users, however, these limitations are not a practical problem because some engraving and
CNC applications support this type of font and do not automatically connect the first and last segments of each character.
For example, Orach Technic Pro 1L (Pass-1) cannot be used reliably in general graphic applications such as Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW
because these programs automatically connect the first and last segments of every character, changing the intended geometry,
even though those segments are intentionally defined as separate in the font Some engraving and CNC applications, however, are specifically designed to
recognize this type of font and preserve its open geometry. In such applications, Orach Technic Pro 1L works exactly as intended.
For these reasons, we do not recommend Orach Technic Pro 1L as our primary solution.
Instead, it was developed as a specialized alternative for users who insist on a true single-line font with a single engraving pass.
Before using Orach Technic Pro 1L, we recommend verifying that your software fully supports this type of font.
Compatibility Note
Our Engraving Port currently describes approximately 180 engraving applications.
Even this is far from a complete list of the software used worldwide.
To verify compatibility with Orach Technic Pro 1L, it is not enough to read the documentation or contact the software manufacturer.
Each application must be installed and tested with our font to determine whether it preserves the original open character geometry or
automatically connects the first and last segments.
Our purpose is not to evaluate or purchase these applications, but simply to verify their compatibility with our fonts.
Unfortunately, most trial licensing systems are designed for prospective customers rather than for this kind of technical compatibility testing.
For this reason, we cannot realistically maintain a complete, accurate and up-to-date compatibility list for all engraving, CAD/CAM and CNC applications.
Fortunately, some professional applications do provide full support for this type of font.
As a practical example, the link below demonstrates Orach Technic Pro 1L (Pass-1) running in Rhino,
one of the best-known professional CAD applications with built-in support for single-line engraving fonts.
When the Engraving font option is enabled, Rhino preserves the original open geometry of each character instead of automatically connecting
the first and last segments. As a result, Orach Technic Pro 1L (Pass-1) works exactly as intended - as a true single-line OpenType font.
Of course, our standard Orach Technic Pro – Thin font also works perfectly in Rhino, as well as in virtually all graphic, CAD/CAM and CNC applications.
